2016 Design Is…Award Market Winner & Peoples Choice Award
THW Interiors wins 2016 Design Is…Award Market Winner and People’s Choice Award for Berman Commons!
Nestled in a cozy neighborhood of Dunwoody, Georgia, Berman Commons is a truly exquisite hospitality venue which opened in March of 2015. Offering Assisting Living and Memory Care resources, the newly constructed facility is a unique community whose goal is to provide residents with exceptional care, an enriched lifestyle and, a vibrant place to call home. Berman Commons is part of Jewish Home Life Communities which has set the standard for superior senior care in the greater Atlanta community. THW Design was honored to have had the opportunity to design and create a beautiful, inviting, hospitality environment that would radiate unparalleled luxury, and timeless charisma.
Though a variety of architectural details, products, and materials combine to speak an aesthetic language for an entire building, the custom carpets developed with Shaw Hospitality enabled the THW Design team to establish a cohesive collection of patterns that would set the tone for the entire building. Inspired by the warm tones and textures found in stained wood, natural stones, crystals, and a rich color palette was developed from Shaw’s solution dyed yarns. The large scale linear pattern found in the lobby is a vibrant compliment the grand scale of the crystal light fixtures which illuminate the space. Upon entering the building, the atmosphere of opulence is evident. The goal was to create a space that emits a homelike energy and a welcoming sense of community.
The artistic quality of the lobby carpet offers a platform for the unique artifacts and historical artwork housed in the space. The adjoining rooms maintain the same characteristics of embedded culture and flare. Each space has a story and important purpose in the facility. Similarly, each Shaw carpet pattern used on the project has a purpose and an aesthetic to communicate. The Dining Room and Private Dining Rooms offer the community a place to gather, dine, and celebrate together. The pairing of playful and geometric patterns in these rooms establishes an eclectic balance with the adjacent lobby, multi-purpose room, and resident corridors. Shaw patterns and products were used in nearly every space in the building which enabled THW to achieve an unprecedented level of quality and cohesive design for Berman Commons. Our primary objective was to create a rich atmosphere that would enrich the community and uphold the mission for Jewish Home Life Communities to provide and enhanced lifestyle, excellent care, a rich sense of community.
