When the Atlanta Housing Authority and private management company, Lane Company, received stimulus funding, THW Design was brought onto the team to determine programming and design that would result in “maximum impact” for the seniors and disabled residents of the two high rise Buildings on a prominent North Avenue site in Midtown Atlanta.
Though the Buildings posed many challenges such as structural shear walls and security concerns, THW was able to provide new open spaces that create an inviting flow. Such openness generates interaction among residents and adds to the value of the programming. Now fully operational, the spaces and programming are bringing residents out of their Units and allowing them to engage as never before. With the healthy stimulation of mind and body, the Buildings are contributing to a healthy and more meaningful lifestyle for the residents, visitors, and staff.
